Like the ratter tat tat of a machine gun or an impact hand drill – only lounder! But note the 2 hours on and 2 hours off rule gives residents some respite

      Yes there is

Yes! I’m above the bookshop — the flat literally shudders when a heavy truck passes. I am worried it will be impossible to sleep, let alone work from home. And no warning, just chaos out of nowhere.

Same here, just off Little Russell Street. I don’t want to be living next to a building site in full

battle mode. I’ve tried noise-cancelling headphones — slight help but no match for whatever

if they start heavy scale drilling!

And they just plough on without pause. I know its 2-hour blocks But even basic courtesy like

a leaflet or heads-up on a site board. Will the developer do that? Central London or not, this

is a residential street. Some of us live and work here. Could our residents group organise a

            WhatsApp alert group

Exactly. Plus, the dust — I walked past the site this morning and it was everywhere. They

says it is screened, and they dampen the spoil – but it’s not working. The pavement’s half-

blocked too. Feels like now they’ve started we’re being completely disregarded.

We can always contact Camden Council. There is demolition plan they must follow and the

code document on the web site deals with practical things that we’ve agreed. Museum

Street’s not just any road — if this is going to drag on for weeks, we deserve transparency

and proper mitigation. A WhatsApp group could be good or maybe a ‘bulletin board’, Can

                MSCLG organise one?

For now, you can use the Hotline. They could screen the site better – Raise this at the next

meeting – there are guidelines they must follow. Let’s see how they respond

Totally agree. I live above the café and I’ve seen delivery lorries just sitting in the middle of

the road, hazard lights on, with nowhere to go. Residents literally have to weave between

construction lorries just to get out of their own building.

Same on the Great Russell end. I couldn’t get a cab to stop near my flat — he had to let me

off two blocks away because the entire street was gridlocked with trucks and a skip being

unloaded. It’s ridiculous. Surely this us against the rules for this kind of thing

And it’s not just vehicles — the site workers have started storing materials on the pavement!

I run a restaurant on West Central Street. My customers yesterday had to step into the road

just to get around it. Isn’t that a safety issue? How do we stop this bad behaviour?

I emailed Camden Council but no response. Surely there’s a proper traffic management plan

for this kind of thing. If so how do we enforce it? This street isn’t designed for constant

obstruction — it’s barely wide enough for two bikes to pass.

Agreed. We should raise this formally with both the council and the ward councillors. Happy

to co-sign something. This is supposed to be a conservation area, not a logistics hub.

We will take this up with the contractor when an exception occurs. Anything urgent- use the

hotline.– either they can do a better job of managing their traffic or we can take it up with an

                              enforcement office at the council
